PURADYN OIL FILTRATION SYSTEM

OIL:

Among its primary functions are lubricating and cooling engine and equipment parts. It reduces friction, enabling equipment to operate smoothly, and efficiently.

The cleaner the oil, the longer the equipment's life span. There are many different types of oil: each formulated for a specific purpose and environment and to have optimum viscosity and the most effective blend of additives.

Although no two oils are exactly alike, all have one thing in common: contamination.

Oil does not wear out. However, at a certain point of contamination, it must be changed.

Although oil doesn't wear out, it oxidizes and becomes contaminated during everyday usage and the combustion process. While serving its intended purpose, oil is exposed to high temperatures, carbon, soot, silica, and metal particles, water, fuel and glycol.

These contaminants find their way into oil and have a detrimental effect on its physical and chemical properties, change the intended viscosity and rapidly deplete the necessary additive package.

As oil b comes increasingly contaminated its life decreases until it can no longer protect, cool and lubricate the moving parts of an engine or other equipment. When contamination is allowed to reach this level, the oil must be changed to try to minimize equipment damage.

However, even the most careful change of oil leaves contaminants behind in the equipment. As the used oil is drained, contaminants settle out on parts, in oil galleys, pump, hose and the sump.

Then, when new oil is added, contaminants, which did not drain out, mix with it, thus contaminating the new oil as soon as the equipment is put in use again.

Negative effects of contaminated oil:

  • Increased equipment wear
  • Acid formation
  • Fuel dilution
  • Varnish deposits
  • Sludge deposits
  • Acid pitting
  • Corrosion
  • Rapid additive depletion
  • Viscosity breakdown
  • Overheating
  • Water contamination
  • Poor oil circulation
  • Oxidation

The life span and lubricating qualities of oil are greatly affected by the quality and level of filtration.

The useful life of an o l is dependent on several factors, such as the quality of the oil, type of fuel, equipment condition, type and operating environment of the equipment and, most important, the type of filtration.

The filtration system and the oil are vital tools for preserving engine life. A highly efficient filter is essential to protect an. engine by removing both liquid and solid abrasive contaminants held in suspension.

If a filter is unable to remove solid contaminants below 15-microns, the particles will form and become too heavy for suspension and settle out as sludge and varnish.

The best way to extend engine life and the lubricating qualities of the oil is to use a filtration system with the ability to remove extremely small particles (1-micron or less), in addition to water and fuel.

Additive consumption is directly related to the level of contamination in the oil.

There is very little additive depletion with PURADYN Filter Technologies Oil Filtration System.

Since the oil is kept constantly clean, the additive depletion is very slow. The small amount of additive depletion that takes place is compensated for by Puradyn's patented Filter-Plus filter with time release additives.

The Filter-Plus does not replace the existing additive package, but gradually replenishes the existing additives as they are depleted, keeping the additive levels at or near new oil specification at all times with the same time tested industry accepted additives used by most major oil companies. One of the nation's largest suppliers of oil additives supplies these additives to us.

Environmental Benefits

• PURADYN technology can decrease the generation of waste oil by up to 90% and in doing so decrease the demand for new oil by 90%.

• Full flow filters last up to five times longer; therefore fewer enter the waste stream.

• Reduced exposure to "cradle to grave liability" associated with spills, transportation, storage and disposal of waste oil.

• PURADYN filter elements can be recycled.

• Less ground water contamination through spilled and dumped waste oil.

The California Environmental Protection Agency's Department of Toxic Substances certified the PURADYN Oil Filtration System as a "Pollution Prevention Technology" in 1994 and re certified the PURADYN Oil Filtration System in 1998.

They stated:

"The system has been shown to be an effective means of extending engine oil change intervals through the removal of particulates, water, and dissolved fuel. Extension of drain intervals reduce"

1) use of new oil,
2) generation of used oil, and
3) potential of spills while draining and transporting used oil".

They went on to say: "If properly operated, monitored. and maintained, PURADYN's OOMS maintains the following engine oil properties within acceptable limits for continued use: viscosity and solids content, water, coolant, fuel, wear metals, and oil additives".

How the PURADYN's Oil Filtration System Removes Both Solid and Liquid Contaminants.

The PURADYN Oil Filtration System is a high efficiency bypass electric oil filtration system designed to remove both solid and liquid contaminants before they can accumulate and cause engine damage.

By constantly removing oxidized particles, soot, solids and liquids, the oil filtration system keeps the oil constantly clean, maintains the intended viscosity, drastically reduces additive depletion by removing contaminants that deplete additives and replenishing depleted additives with the Filter-Plus filters time release additives.

This process enables the oil to provide maximum lubricating, cooling and sealing qualities. thus maximizing the life span of the engine or equipment.

It has been determined that the most effective preventative maintenance schedule for engines and other equipment is to change the PURADYN Filter-Plus filter element and perform an oil analysis at the Original Equipment Manufacturers specified il change interval or as oil analysis dictates.

As long as the oil analysis confirms that the oil is suitable for continued use, the oil does not have to be changed. All that is necessary to do is to change the Filter-Plus filter element, do oil analysis and add a small amount of make up oil.

How the PURADYN oil filtration system functions

To assure maximum particle retention. The contaminated oil
enters through our special precision metering jet for a predetermined flow rate.

The oil then passes through the replaceable Filter-Plus filter element, where unbleached long strand natural cotton fibers, hydraulically compressed to prevent channeling, trap all solids down to the 25- micron range and neutralizes acids and sulfur compounds.

As the hot oil flows through the Filter Plus, additives are slowly released to replenish any depleted additive.

The filtered oil next enters the patented heated evaporation chamber, where fuel, water and coolant are evaporated and are immediately vented. After the wear causing contaminants am removed. the newly refined oil flows by gravity back to the sump. Proper viscosity is maintained and oil additives remain well within specified limits.

The PURADYN Oil Filtration System is bypass system that works in conjunction with the full flow filter and does not replace it, but does improve its function. The PURADYN Oil Filtration System, does not affect equipment oil pressure.
